Welcome to Pennine Images, the web site of landscape photogrpaher Jefferson Hammond, based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.

The majority of the images on this site are of the South Pennines, a landscape that has a strong sense of identify and an attraction that goes beyond the traditional notions of “scenic beauty”. The area retains this strong sense of identity and attraction despite, or possibly because of, several decades of industrial and agricultural abandonment

A significant element of Jefferson's work seeks to explore this theme of strong landscape identify and scenic attraction, juxtaposed with the high levels of dereliction that is prevalent throughout the landscape.

Although Jefferson has no formal training as a photographer, he has over twenty years experience of photographing the South Pennine landscape, as well as many other areas of the British Isles.

Following a break of several years, Jefferson has he has a background in traditional darkroom work, he now work exclusively in digital.
