Civic Pride...........

The images in this portfolio represent a new direction in my work –an exploration of the issues surrounding our failure as a society to be able to properly and adequately maintain and manage our social and public spaces.
This failure occurs in the face of the huge amounts of public funding that is spent on what appears to be a continuous cycle of urban re-development and refurbishment.
It would appear that we are able to find millions in capital funding to create attractive social spaces but cannot find the revenue funding for their continuing maintenance and up keep.
Allied to this issue is the fact that urban re-development and refurbishment tends to take place in the form of small, isolated islands which are often surrounded by areas of low environmental quality and dereliction.
