Welcome to Pennine Images.

I am a landscape photographer based in Hebden Bridge in the South Pennines, the high grit stone plateaux between the industrial conurbations of West Yorkshire & Greater Manchester.

The majority of the images on this site are of the South Pennines, a landscape that has a strong sense of identify and an attraction that goes beyond the traditional notions of “scenic beauty”. The majority of my work seeks to explore the attraction that the area retains, despite several decades of industrial and agricultural abandonment and the resultant dereliction that is prevalent throughout the landscape.

Although I have no formal training as a photographer, I have over twenty years experience of photographing the South Pennine landscape, as well as many other areas of the British Isles.

Following a break of several years, I have recently returned to photography and although I have a background in traditional darkroom work, I now work exclusively in digital.
